My Week With Marilyn

My week with Marilyn documents the life of Marilyn Monroe during the production of the Prince and the Showgirl. Not long after her marriage to playwriter Arthur Miller, Marilyn and her Husband come to live in a stately home in Britain whilst filming. Colin Clark an assistant on the film, befriends Marilyn whilst her Husband takes a trip away and witnesses her fraught relationship with her co- star Laurence Olivier. The film examines how Marilyn really deals with the fame brought by her sex siren status, an insight into her marriage and exposes her relationship with Clark who decides to take her away from the pressures of her hectic and surreal lifestyle. Did Clark get to know the real Marilyn Monroe..... you will need to go and see the film to find out for yourself. Starring Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Dougray Scott, Judi Dench and Emma Watson My Week with Marilyn is out  this week Friday 25th November.

And if you love the style of one of the worlds most loved sex sirens get yourself over to Love Yesterday  for plenty of figure hugging dresses just the way Marilyn loved them.

Happy 50th Birthday Breakfast at Tiffanys

This week seen the 50th Anniversary of iconic romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffanys. Audrey HepBurns portrayal of New York Socialite Holly Golightly is one of the most legendary roles the last century.

                                                             Holly GoLightly

Audrey HepBurns classic sophisticated style is probably the most celebrated of any hollywood actress and her portrayal of Holly Golightly is probably one of the most recognised characters of the silver screen.

The film is loved by women, mothers and daughter, young and old all over the world as not only is the film romantic, humourous, sad and feel-good its 1950s setting is mesmerising and the style of Holly Golightly leaves the viewer in awe. Her trademark little Black dress, oversized hat, pearl necklace cateye sunglasses and diamond tiffany ring have became classic items that almost every lady would like in there possesion.

It is believed that the little black dress worn by Audrey in the film is worth $1 million. Luckily you can have a dress worthy of Holly Golightlys wardrope at a snippet of the price. The gorgeous FunnyFace has been inspired by Audrey HepBurn and its classic shape and beautiful satin fabric means you to can be the style envy at any party or celebration you attend :

Jo and Co

When one of my oldest and bestest buddies Joanne got wind that all my new stock had finally arrived she gave me a little visit to see what she could get her mitts on.  She brought with her mum big sis Nicky and lovely friends Mags and Marnie. Soon my living room resembled Paddys Market and the girls were trying on the dresses. They all went away with their favourite styles and Love Yesterday had its second customers. The dresses were bought for Nickys pre wedding drinks and the girls looked absolutely stunning in their co-ordinated sailor and polka dot combo.

On a related note Nicky got married to her long term partner Gareth on Saturday, congratulations and the few pictures of their 40s style wedding that I have seen look absolutely beautiful - cant wait to see the rest.

A little shout out to the fab team involved in location shoot .........

Last Sunday Love Yesterday hit the road and collaberated with the excellent photographer Gary MacLennan  for a location shoot in Cushion and Cake tearoom and Majestic Laundrette. Naturally we wanted a 50s type vibe and these two places fitted the bill. Cushion and cake is a little hidden treasure in Glasgows West End. The very kind owner Pamela let us take over her little haven for a couple of hours to shoot and even got involved herself. We all had the pleasure of sampling her delicious homebaking and my huge slice of chocolate orange cake was delish. Whilst up the west end the next couple of days I found an excuse to return and buy some more cake - 3 big yummy slices. Anyway get yourself along if you haven't already done so.  Majestic Laundrette proved to be equally as fun and who would have thought a little laundrette that so many people pass by day in day out could be such an impressive backdrop for a shoot.

Again the two very talented models I had the pleasure of working with in the studio shoot Nicole and Lauren got involved.  I loved watching these two little chameleons channel their 50s housewife characters in cake and cushion and then bring along a rock and roll vibe to majestic laundrette. These two girls are super talented, clearly beautiful and a real pleasure to work alongside.

Not only did we have Nicole and Lauren but we had a host of pretty ladies who took part in the shoot for the day. From day one Love Yesterday has been about providing glamourous and unique clothing for any lady that has a passion for the beautiful clothing of yesteryear, so I was happy I had an array of gorgeous girls and characters. Thanks to Clare, Laura, Pamela, Hanna and Camille for taking part, you all fitted in with character of the shoot brilliantly.

David Farqhar and Heather Mitchell done a fantastic job of all the girls hair and makeup and made them all look very pin-up. David also does college lecturing, body art, retro furniture restoration and even showed me his hilarious wonderwomen makeover (lol).   And talking of pin up girls we had the fabulous George Milne assisting in the shoot, helping Gary with photography but also striking some epic pin up poses as suggestions for the girls. We labelled him Miss J from Americas next top model for the day- what a hilarious guy, hes going to make a fantastic photographer.

I myself styled the girls and then made a guest appearance in a couple of the shots.

Heres some of my favourite shots from the day:

Thanks for everyones help and involvement in shoot- what a lovely bunch of people hope to work with you all again soon x
